Once again, it's up to us. --- "STATE OF THE UNION"
Editorial: A Whole New Ball Game Jules Verne. Victor Hugo. Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Robert Ludlum (at least for me). When thinking of these names, we think of some of the writers that most would consider the most influential of the modern (and some not so modern) era. For quite a few of us that have read since we were children, they were the reason we were so enticed by the novel. Reading allows our imagination to grow. For others, reading allows us to either relate to characters that we can see in ourselves or dream about the goals and wellbeing that we could experience. That is our original version of history. We now have a chance to make a new history. We can re-create authors and novels that we consider the foundation of our society, creating new foundations that can transcend borders, outlast personality differences, and create friendships where some thought it was not possible. Who says that we have to be at war? With our new future, we can all coexist within the world without the varying fundamental differences that drive us apart each day. This is our new World. This is our Erepublik. Our World, to make it what we want. We can either create prosperity with the click of a button and an open mind, or destroy countries. It's up to us to make the correct choices. There will always be boundaries, the only question is where our boundaries will lie. Will we allow our National boundaries and outdated logic to reign supreme over the notion of a better world, where we all get along? Or will we be the first to take the step towards progress, something which we all have longed for in our lives at one time or another. Once again, it's up to us. Before we get too far, I would like to introduce myself. I am Dishmcds, an active citizen within the United States. I have been writing since I came to Erepublik with more than 100 articles to my credit, and thus far in the top 20 in the world in media. My writing style can be related as a mix between Robert Ludlum (who is my favorite author), and John Steinbeck (who has written many of my favorite books). I enjoy writing metaphorically based articles based on Erepublik-related events. If you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me at this site, as I plan on writing several times a week.  State of the Union: Currently, in Erepublik we are at a bit of an impasse. We have several strong Unions of countries that either agree or disagree on several terms in the way that things should or could be run. There's the Mediterranean Alliance, which is primarily based in Southern Europe, who has maintained their Union was strictly to prevent themselves from being put in a sour position in the World Standings due to the size of other alliances. Then we turn to the newly shaped Northern Alliance with powerhouse members Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom among others. The other larger alliance in the World scene is the Indonesian/Pakistan Alliance, who has peacefully secured their spot in the South East Sector's, and we have the smaller Pan-American Alliance in the Western Hemisphere. Right now we all seem to be playing chess, waiting for the other to initiate first blood. Where it happens, we'll all have to wait and see.
