Hmm.. lets see where i should begin
Lets start with a question...
"At which era does this eRepublik game sets?"
 Of course there are different versions of answers from different version of thoughts. I will describe these thoughts...
Erepublik is actually within the dungeons and dragon era. There are many facts around that are rarely spotted by us. Think about this.. how come can we move from town to town in a blink of an eye IF we have a ticket. The only logical explanation is the ticket is actually a SCROLL OF TOWN PORTAL!! You don't believe me? (of course you don't). But that is the only reasonable explanation.
Okay, more question. What kind of weapon that can only be used once? A disposable sniper rifle? A disposable combat knife? Or a disposable arrow (it is disposable btw)? Then we should buy the bow, but we don't. The answer is.. Those things you buy as a weapon is a kind of MAGIC CARD that can SUMMON A MONSTER or MAGICAL WEAPONS with different qualities. Once you summoned it, POOF!! the card is gone and cannot be used anymore. To understand this, please google Yu-Gi-Oh (the sad Japanese Manga).
About foods, well, foods are foods. Anything edible. The quality difference is the difference of MAGIC inside the foods that will increase your wellness. (The wellness concept will be explained later)
Gift, is simply a bunch of MAGICAL STUFF that can increase your wellness (running out of idea here T_T)
Houses.. There weren't any houses that you can carry around, were there?
It simple, similar to Naruto (the saddest Japanese manga of all). There are reusable scrolls that can SUMMON HOUSES with different qualities.
At last, hospital. Hospital is similar to houses. But it needs MORE MAGIC. Because the stuff is way bigger and contains MORE MAGIC. It is a PERMANENT SUMMON, which means it cannot be carried around. It is hard to made, and greatly expensive.
Wellness concept.. How come every time we work it decreases? Training? Moving? Contributing in a War? DECREASES!!
Another simple thing... Remember, everything USES MAGIC.
At work, each employee must give in their MAGIC POWER to produce stuff which also contains MAGIC POWER.
THE SCROLL used to move around needs some MAGIC POWER. So, it decreases wellness.
War? Of course! Using those MAGIC CARDS to SUMMON MONSTERS needs MAGIC POWER too! How bout' STRs? The admins are wrong, it should be INT. Because IT IS ALL MAGIC!! :D
Training are similar to war, because we need to use MAGIC POWER to use the training MAGIC CARDS. Remember MAGIC is everything. HA HA HA
So yeah, MAGIC!
