Headlines: The war between Hungary and the Czech Republic; The Guardians of the Cape of Good Hope

The War between Hungary and the Czech Republic turns slowly into the longest war on eRepublik. The war seems to have multiple causes for its beginning:

- Increase of revisionism and the power of the militaristic political party MHP, here it was historical fact that created a claim on the territories of Slovakia

- Rumors about growing foreign influence (at that time it seemed the most likely candidate could be Rumania, noone suspected Brazil) in the Czech Republic, what could become a threat to Hungary

- The need for Hungary to grow stronger, as the near borders of the Nordic Alliance are a very real danger, considering that Hungary is a member of the Mediterranean Alliance, which has no good relations with the NA currently.

- Fun! (Hungary had no active role yet in any war, was very diplomatic in most cases, and players seeked adventure)



Why is the war still going on, what is the cause that makes it impossible to stop it?

Since the beginning of the war, the people of Hungary started to become more calmer, and the President of Hungary offered very shortly a white peace.
The czech citizens at the start thought they will be able to win the war, and many of them said they wish compensation for the war, which would be gold and hungarian territory. (the problems of the Czech Army, and why they seem to have no chance now will be discussed later)

At that time, the war did not even really start, nearly no battles were fought, but the first peace offer came from Hungary, which - ignoring every cause for the war - was still the aggressor.
The hungarian leadership had then problems to contact the Czech President, this is where we start to get closer to the answer for the question.

A hungarian soldier commented: "I like the czechs, they make fine beer, this is not because of them, we would have attacked any other nation which annexed Slovakia too"

As the war could not be ended, and the Mediterranean Alliance members discussed the events, they realized that many czech citizens don't accept a white peace, and wish to gain territories out of this war.
As the US Army and the Bulgarian Army supported the Czech nation (which is understandable, as they had an MPP with them), this seemed as an archievable goal.
Thus the spanish soldiers who volunteered into the Czech Army (their presence was highly debated in the MA, as they fought against their own allies) were ordered back home, and soon portuguese and italian - and other - troops came to support the hungarian offensive, and protect hungarian soil.

A portuguese officer said: "The plans for the attacks never included movements into the original czech motherland, the 'Operation Saint Stephen' had only plans to reclaim 'Upper Hungary' and to secure its former borders"

As the hungarians slowly started to capture one city after another, the President sent again offers of white peace to the Czech Republic.
These were ignored by their President, but the majority of the Czech eCitizens wished peace themselves.

Soon Hungary and its allied troops captured most of the former Slovakia, the Czech Republic was given a last white peace offer, and it became known that President Yugi in Prague is not reacting to anything.
The President of Hungary asked the troops not to move further, to leave Prague untouched, as he tries to negotiate with the remaining czech politicians about the situation. In this short time some of the territories formerly secured by hungary were regained by US troops and rumanian volunteers.
(Here I would like to mention that one of the most prominent rumanian politicians, the former rumanian president, Alex Craciun was also a volunteer, fighting for the czechs / against the hungarians.)

As the negotiations had no results, the inofficial speaker for the Czech Republic became Vaclav, who gained huge support during the "Yugi Crisis" from the local population. He started to continue the negotiations with the hungarian government, while the hungarian army was ordered to reclaim the old Bohemia-Hungary borders, and secure them.
Since then no official or major offensive happened on any side, and the true leader of the Czech Republic is considered by most of the other nations: Vaclav


The allies of the czechs stated meanwhile that they withdraw support if they do not agree to peace or a cease-fire, tensions were rising on that side of the front aswell.

Yesterday it became known that President Yugi is in reality a brasilian agent, and was once a minister in the brasilian government.

A comment from Mr. Vaclav: "Hungary told me we can stay free, they promised NOT to ever take our land. Untill this kid /Yugi/ came and ruined everything."


These facts now explain why there can be no peace: Yugi is a spy for brasil, and they somehow gain from this conflict. It is not in the interest of Yugi to end this war, he declared he wishes a merging of the Czech Republic with Hungary, but this was not ever discussed in Hungary, it was not an option or suggestion from the hungarian government.

The statement Yugi gave is only there to inflict even greater damage on the hungarian-czech relations. The hungarian government declared earlier that Hungary does not wish to annex the Czech Republic, the war was never about destroying the Czech state, it was only about the slovak territories.

Yesterday Yugi broke ALL of the Mutual Protection Pacts the Czech Republic had. This could be an evidence of a shortly beginning invasion of the Czech Republic by an unknown force.


A czech doctor said: "This war has to end, there are too many casualties on both sides. The only person who should be shot on the battlefield is Yugi, the traitor."

An italian historian reacted to the above statement: "He can't be a traitor if he was always a loyal brasilian spy."


Hungarian and czech people now start to believe that there were some false informations on both sides that urged the conflict, that this was orchistrated by an outer power, which wishes one of these things to happen:

- Weaken Hungary and/or the Czech Republic so they can themself invade after the end of this war, or offer an 'irresistible' offer of merger.

- Declare war on the Czech Republic now that Hungary is also in war with it, and gain controll of the original Czech territories, as Hungary aleady controlls the slovak region, this would mean a swift defeat for the czech nation. (This means the logical candidates for such an action would be the other neighbours of the czechs: Germany, Sweden, Austria)

An eReporter who just left Brazil notified us: "We know nations used agents till now to overthrow the governments in other lands, but now it seems something new has happened: brazilian politicians agreed to support takeovers in other lands, by other nations for payment in gold.
They do not overthrow legit governments for the political power increasing of their own, but they 'loan out' their agents to help other nations plans, for the 'right price'. If they succeed, Brazil will gain huge income in a short while just from the payment for the hired agents, and then there is the bonus income from the agents who managed to become leaders in other lands, who can then send the income of that land through a 'money washing system' back home."

Some interesting details from the war:

- spanish troops fought on both sides of the war

- rumanian and croatian volunteers fought for the czech side

- atleast one scottish highlander fought for Hungary (no, not William Wallace, nor Sean Connery)

- some rumanian food and weapon manufacturers actually supplied the hungarian side

- Vaclav is a member of the czech political party "ToThe Glory" of Ivan Hat, who did an incredible political career in a very short while since he was mentioned in TDF. (gratulations!)

- Interestingly enough a possible solution to get rid of Yugi could be for the czechs to let themself get annexed by Hungary, then have eGod make the nation independent again, this way they would get a new voting chance atonce.

South Africa:

Now that the MPP is broken, the US troops leave the Czech Republic, and focus on the struggle in South Africa. The african lands are currently secured, and the indonesian army faces the dangers of an invasion themself. It might be that Indonesia will lose now all it gained in the former wars, and the "Australian Freedom Guards" now joined the "South African Special Forces" to liberate their homeland.
